Scotch..Continuation

e4 e5, Nf3 Nc6, d4 exd4, Nxd4 Bc5, Nb3 Bb6, Nc3 d6, Qe2 Nge7, Be3 Be6, 0-0-0 Qd7    , how to proceed from hereon?

You just go g3. Bg2 f4... With a very similar plan as in Popov's game in the course.

An interesting position from Topalov's game!

I was watching some middlegame lessons and found this position. Only one game was played after c5 Bxb2so do you guys ever studied this position?

I played kan in past and same line but never saw c5. In the game Topalov's opponent took on b2 and then took on a1 and later lost.

Nice dark square play .

I like Bc5 more after Bd3

e4 c5 Nf3 e6  d4 cx Nxd4 e6 Bd3 Bc5 Nb3 Be7 Qg4 g6 Qe2 Nf6 Bh6 lines. My past experience says it's playable position but I do not studied modern theory

Winning position but complicated.

I ended in this position in one of my recent games. My opponent resigned. He quit on my move and honestly I don’t know what I would have done if he hadn’t. Any suggestions?

Brad, you are rook and piece up. So maybe just Qa2, offering him to exchange the queens.
Rook and piece up is too much :)

Question about French

Dear Chessfriends

I have a question about the-0 French

1 e4-e6 2 d4-d5 3 Bd3-dxe4 4 Bxe4-Nf6 5 Bf3-c5 6 Ne2-Nc6 7 Be3-cxd4 8 Nxd4 -Ne5 9 Nc3-Be7 10Qe2-0-0 11 0-0-0 -Bd7 This Bd7 looks very bad but is there for white a more convincing way then Bxb7-Rb8 and the for example Bf4

Hey Franck. You don't need to take the toxic pawn ob b7. You can start an attack with g4 right away.

The course "Najdorf Attack"!

Dear ChessMood Family,
As you know many months already, I've been working on the course "Najdorf Defense", which I call "Najdorf Attack!".
https://chessmood.com/course/2-sicilian-defense-najdorf-variation

I started to record it and we just uploaded the 1st section!
Hopefully, you'll love it.

If you have any questions or comments, feel free to post here.
With best wishes,
GM Gabuzyan

Realy great!! When will other parts uploaded? Also intention to produce anti sicilian with 2 d6

Hello dear friends!
We uploaded the 2nd section of the Najdrof attack.
https://chessmood.com/course/2-sicilian-defense-najdorf-variation

I hope you'll love it :)

Hi! I'm new on this site. Congratulations for the amazing contents you and other coaches provide! A question. In the section 1 of Najdorf repertoire for Black there is one specific video on the line 6.Be2 e5 7.Nf3? Thanks in advance!

Tricky sidelines: Accelerated Dragon

My online opponents keep testing me in sidelines of the ChessMood repertoire for Black that are difficult to deal with unless one knows the reply. I thought I'd share this recent example, which I found quite instructive.

11. h3!? with plan g4 and f5 is the sideline. 12. ..c5!! is the move to know - it secures an outpost for the knight (and opens the a8-h1 diagonal for the bishop) before breaking with ..d6. In the game, I didn't find 12. ..c5 and quickly lost.

PS: Could ChessMood PGN viewer be enhanced to support comments?

Replies

Wow - wow!!!
Peter, I just checked it with Cloud engines. Indeed h3 is a very toxic move and you mentioned c5 move is the only way for Black to get a fine position.
I'll add it the advanced course. Can you please tell me your surname? I would like to mention you.
And thanks for sharing these!
I appreciate such support and I am super happy to see in our PRO Members team people like you, who grow and at the same time help others.

Thank you, Peter!

P.S
About the enhanced PGN viewer I didn't get the question, but I will show t our technical team, they should understand what you mean, and we will try to find a solution.

Question regarding line in the Scotch main line after 8.h4! 8...h6

After 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4 exd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nxc6 bxc6 6.e5 Qe7 7.Qe2 Nd5 8.h4! h6 9.c4 (the move suggested in the videos), the line showed in the videos goes:
8...h6 9.c4 Ba6 10.g3! g6 11.h5! g5 ( 11...Bg7 12.hxg6 fxg6 13.Qe4 Nb4 14.a3 d5 15.Qxg6+ ) 12.Qe4 Nb4 13.Nc3! f5? ( 13...d5 14.cxd5 cxd5 15.Nxd5; 13...Bg7 14.a3 f5 15.Qxf5 Bxe5
16.Be3! ) 14.Qxf5

This is really nice, but today my opponent played: 9.Nb6. Since I knew the line with Ba6 I played g3, trying to play in a similar way, but I think that it was not the best option, since I am closing the rook path via h3 which can be pretty useful most of the times.

Could someone enlighten me in this position? b3 makes sense, g3 too, but I think that I am missing something here. Thanks and no hurry at all!

Replies

Hello! I would like to share my opinion :)

I think that 9...Nb6 is not a good move, because it does not create serious problems for white. After 9...Ba6 black does not intend to play Nb6. And if we compare position after 9...Nb6 with main lines 8.c4 Nb6 9.Nc3 Qe6 10.Qe4 g6 (black want to play Bg7 trying to create problems on e5 pawn ) then we see that after 8.h4 h6 9.c4 Nb6 simply 10.Nc3 Qe6 11. Qe4 there is no 11...g6 move. We play 12.h5! and if g5 then 13. Bd3 Bg7 and 14. f4. White is fine here :)

Question about french

Dear chess friends

In a blitzgame followed the theory recommend by chessmood

1 e4 e6 2 d4 d5 3 Bd3 dxe4 4 bxe4 nf6 5 bf3 c5 6 ne2 nc6 7 be3 cxd4 8 nxd4 ne5 9 nc3 be7 10 qe2 o-o 11 o-o-o qv7

How can white play

Replies

g4 is a natural plan.
After Qc7?! White also can play Kb1 useful move, preparing Bf4, so there is not Nd3.
However, I checked with cloud engines, even after Bf4 right away, Nd3, Rd3 White has a big pressure due to monster bishop on f3.

Chess Mood Scotch course goes wild...

I recently saw the Chess Mood Scotch course on sale at Chessworld.com (which makes it somewhat less exclusive as a Chess Mood course for members & Pro members). Are the other Chess Mood courses available elsewhere also and are there plans to release more? I would appreciate any reassurance Chess Mood can give, that membership here will not be devalued by any of these "wild" courses. Many thanks & best wishes

The site is thechessworld.com and I did see the banner therein.

me too. I just checked and saw the banner.

Richard don't worry.
ChessMood courses are not available anywhere else. And Scotch is the only one, which you can find in somehwere else.
Membership will be devalued. It will be more valued only. Soon it's coming courses for middlegames and endgames.

question about French

question about french

I had in an online game a position from your French course

1 e4-e6 2 d4-d5 3 Bd3-Nf6?! 4 e5-Nd7 5 Ne2-c5 6 c3-Nc6 7 a3-Qb6 8 B4-c4 9 Bc2-a5 10 b5-Qxb5

11 a4-Qb6 12 Na3-Na7 this is ofcourse a promising position for white.

And in my opinion strong candidate moves are 0-0 and Ng3 and Nf4 how will a strong player/grandmaster decide what move to play

Replies

Hello Franck,

It's funny because I just watched this video before reading this question. In this exact line Grigoryan recommends to castle and then start the attack in the Kingside. I guess it just makes sense to castle, and then play Ng3 or Nf5, Qg4 or h5 depending on the attack that you wish to perform, always taking into account what the opponent is going to do. If you watch the video again, you can see this line and how the attack is performed in the kingside, sacrificing two pieces or just going Qh6, Nh5 (after Ng3). Check it out, because this line is really easy to learn and people play it a lot... Regarding how the grandmasters /strong players choose their move, I will let the stronger players or GM answer... Good mood and good games to all of you!

Thanks, Ed, for an excellent answer.
Both moves are fine. I would go Ng3.
Here is why: If we go Nf4, where goes the knight next? h5, right?
So the Knight on g3 also can go to h5, but on g3, it keeps c1 bishop open and also keeps f4,f5 plan.
So Ng3 is more flexible move.
And the upcoming attack should be finished with checkmate minimum :D :D :D

Hello everyone,

New PRO member in the family! Edo from Tokyo, nice to meet you all!

I just played a tournament practice game with the standard time used in Japan, with 45 min + 15 sec. It is a Benko Gambit game, where the white opponent felt the pressure all the game and was unable to find good moves because of it. The funny thing is that I watched all the benko gambit files only once, but the instruction is so crystal clear that even after missing a couple of chances my opponent was still tied up. Time did the rest but, no more talking and I hope that you enjoy the game annotated by me for you all and feel the pressure of the right mood... (at least that is what I was thinking during the game).

Hello Champions!
Thank you for all your games.
It's cool to see how you grow. It's twice cool to see how you crush with ChessMood Openings.

Among all these games, we must mention 2 strategical games of Jay Garrison, where he like master isolated opponent's pieces and won the games. Good job, Jay. Impressive.

Abhi and Ed Tokyo played very cool games with ChessMood openings, especially Benko Gambits.
Jeff's attack in Sicilian was cool too.

Derek's checkmating attack wish Sicilian was nice too.

And we had another 3 impressive attacks!
So the winners of February's Best Games:

The 3rd place goes to Hasmik Kochinyan for bringing opponent's king to h3 and checkmating there!

The 2nd place goes to Justin Chen for destroying opponent's position with very agressive attack, starting with e4 sacrifice.

The best game of February goes to Fahad Rahman! 0-0-0 and Bb5 moves were fantastic!

Congratulations to the winners!
Keep the growth and see you in the "Best Games of March."

P.S The Prizes will be on your accounts tomorrow :)

Thanks very much (btw great webinar today with you & GM Hohvannes Gabuzyan...)

Hi

These are not pgn.  They look like Ches Base Files but I have chess Base 15, but it will not open them either.

Thanks a lot for your help Sensei! It will be nice to compare the games with the chessmood repertoire and see where the games changed and how to followup.

More courses, opening repertoire for 1. d4 players, etc?

Hi,

I sampled the Modern Maroczy course when chessmood unlocked its courses for a day a couple of weeks ago and loved what I saw. I'm considering becoming a PRO member in order to finish studying that course. However, to continue my membership, I'd like to see something for 1. d4 players and perhaps some other courses on endgames, middle game play (calculation), etc. Are such courses in the pipeline and if so, how much time would it take before we see them on the site?

Great work on the existing courses, like I said, I loved what I saw (Avetik is a great teacher!). I could actually remember what I saw in the video much later.

Thanks,

Vishnu

Hi Vishnu,I also watched the Maroczy Bind Course and I found it very interesting. I spent 5 hours that weekend and I kept a lot of notes in order to look sth up. I love your suggestion, although I prefer to open up with 1. e4 in 10mins+ time controls. I would like to see some more course about and against 1.Nf3

Can white win this endgame?

Classic games

I finished all the classics in chessmood community and I made my chessbase files too for future training of critical moments.

Now I am watching other videos on classics.

Normally what I do is during I watch games I note down critical moments, trying to understand concepts behind moves  and also make chessbase files of games which i use  for future training.

Is it good idea or I am doing something wrong.  My important job exam in May so I can't focus on analysis of games or calculation training so I only follow live streams and webinars and classic games study. Due to live streams on chessmood my instincts, intuition, power of bishop pairs, weak pawns concepts, Tv concepts, Door concepts, creativity, openings, feeling critical moments, trading concepts, punishing bad openings etc, are improving so  I think if right now I only focus on watching games and grasping ideas and making files for future training is fine.

In the bottom I am sharing my recent fb post where I wrote what I learnt from  Judit Polgar vs Alexi Shriov 1999 classic game. Kindly check those points and let me know if i am missing something. Also I am only 1465 FIDE rated so keep that in mind during you write answers. Thanks for support

Top level a6?

Any idea why a strong player of 2600+ rating chose this a6 move against Nc3?

I think in our chessmood course a6 was considered bad version of closed sicilian. So I am wondering why he chose a6 line against Nc3. Any idea coaches?

This game was so fun to watch and I loved the Analysis of commentator so I thought to share the game link so it will be helpful for other members.
