Ratings and laugh- Met an egocentric person
Do you think showing your rating matters? I mean showing that you are strong and others are dumb. Recently a man joined my club and asked me my rating and I said I am 1465. Then he laughed on me and said I am 2200. This sounds like showing ego to me. Like he is laughing on me and laughing that I am new in chess but I still created a community of 17.2k members.
I call this kind of persons as egocentric or egomanical.
Yes rating matters only in tournaments and after tournaments who cares if you are GM or novice?
If you have students then they will know you like ok my mentor is GM but I really hate showing rating in front of anyone.
Whenever I write my ratings online and offline I always make note about potential. Rating shows your game level yes true but it can never show your potential.
What you guys think that showing rating and laughing is good?
For me I just call them nonsense. No matter they are GM or even world champ. Keep your rating to yourself or if you want to present it in front of anyone then be gentle with them even if they are new in chess or not playing events. For me I played only 3 rated events so I know I am underrated. I am not saying I am above 2000 but I know I can play like 1800 FIDE In past when Magnus was young I hate his personality. He showed anger when he lost and also he threw a pen on Ivanchuk I think and also he sometimes did not came to conferences. But now as he is mature man he is more gentle and nice person and I love it.
I will be interested in knowing your views about this

Well, I never make fun of lower rated players because I once was like them. I like to remember that nobody is born with knowledge! We were all novice players once.
As for the rude ones that offend me, I just beat them over the board!
Looking for sparring partner to practice ChessMood openings
Hi guys,
I just started with ChessMood about 1 week ago - great to be part of the family. I never played the Sicilan as Black and I don't feel comfortable in the Dragon.
If some of you guys want to practice with unrated games, that would be great. Not just the Dragon, but also the Scotch game and other CM openings. Btw my rapid rating on Chess.com is 1631 , and I suck at blitz :)
Thanks a lot and all the best,
Joso

Question on French
Hi, amazing analysis also in the French course!
I have a question: How can we play in variation in wich Black keeps the tension in the centre, for example:
1.e4 e6 2.d4 d5 3.Bd3 dxe4 4.Bxe4 Nf6 5.Bf3 c5 6.Ne2 Be7 followed by ...0-0, ...Nbc6, ...Qc7, ...Rd8 keeping the tension in the centre or
5...Nbd7 6.Ne2 Bd6 that I met in an online game.
Thanks!

Hey Alex! These are nice questions!
We have finished analyzing these variations recently, and we will record and upload in the advanced section, as soon as we finish with Petroff.
My real issues- need solutions
I am doing fine strategically but missing a lot tactics.
Can any mentor check this game and tell me my real problems so I can also focus on them.
Right now I only watch classical games.

I lost but my feeling during the middlegame after Raf8 was that I am winning.

Hi I looked at you game. I think you made a lot of differents mistake. Not only one kind of mistake. In the opening (4...b4) you misunderstood one of the main strategies of the Benko gambit. Pressure of the white center. 4...Bb7 followed på e6 was more natural. After 4...Bb7 white is not advised to take the pawn on b5, because the pawn d5 will get lost. In some parts of the middlegame you play like you are in a bloodrush. You sac on h2, to early. Your position was not ready for that sac. My advice to relax, and play naturel moves. is to analyse (opening, and middelgame plans) your blitz games (opening, and middelgame plans) on chess.com (or chessbase or on lichess). pick up middelgames plans from the courses on Chessmood and other sources solve tactic puzzles dont forget the endgame Sincerly FIDE Trainer Kim Skaanning

Early deviation in a kind of Maroczy English
Hi all,
I am writing because I am beginning to study the Maroczy bind and today in an OTB game I had the following opening (I was black) 1.c4 c5 2.Nc3 Nc6 3.Nf3 g7(I think that Nf6 should be better) and then the opponent played 4.e3 followed by 5.d4. What should be the plan against this? Can someone point me in the right direction? Or even better, the right video? I honestly could not find it... It should be somewhere though... Thanks in advance and let's keep the cogro mood!

Hey Tokyo!
This stuff will be uploaded soon in course 1.c4
For now a few words. Play the line without Nc6.
So 1...c5 and then 2...g6 with Bg7. Now his e3 and d4 is not strong anymore, cause there is no more d5 with tempo. You wait for his Be2 and then cd4 ed4 and you go d5! :)
When the Opera ends early...
This miniature is a prime example why you should know classic games! Thanks Paul Morphy!

Caro-Kann question and practice
Hi, I learned the Caro-Kann course, really interesting ideas! In particular I liked a lot the solution against the Dreev line.
If someone wants we could practice together on Chess.com! Let me know if you want :)
I have also a question: against 1.e4 c6 2.d4 d5 3.exd5 cxd5 4.Bd3 Nc6 5.c3 g6 6.Nf3 Nh6 or 6...Bg7 and the ...Nh6 how we can react?
