Imagine you are traveling to Paris. You know only 3 streets in the city and have no access to GPS. So there’s a high chance you might get lost in the city, right?

But what if you knew 50 streets instead of 3? What about 200? Of course, then it’ll be easier to find the route!

The same is in chess: the more chess classics you know, the easier to navigate chess positions! ...

At the same time, knowing how to study them is also equally important.

Anyone can memorize the moves, but it’s the concepts and underlying thought processes which inexperienced players find difficult to grasp.

That’s where the expertise of our Grandmaster coaches, with over 10 years of coaching experience, kicks in!

They’ll explain the underlying thought process, gently nudge you to remember essential information, and share many fun stories!

Our team has chosen only the most instructive games, where every game has a clear takeaway.

Below are some of the positions taken from the course:

To extract the most out of this course, follow the 3 instructions given by GM Avetik in the Introduction:

  • Pause and think when our GMs ask you to do so.
  • Watch only 1 game each day.
  • Don’t try to memorize all moves of the game.

You’ll fall in love with chess classics and also become a better player in the process, just like many of our students!

Let’s begin!

Additional Reading: You may find it helpful to read what happened after the Arabkir Chess School introduced chess classics to their students.

What you'll learn

  • Why you should study chess classics?
  • Important strategies like making the right exchanges, finding plans, prophylaxis, etc.
  • Typical middlegame ideas and concepts in different openings like King’s Indian Defense, Caro-Kann, Ruy Lopez, etc.
  • How do you apply what you learn from classics in a real game? GM Avetik shows how he used an idea he learned from Kasparov's game!
  • The winning strategies used by great chess players like Fischer, Capablanca, Alekhine and others.
  • Instructive games played by the world champions and legends of the game.
  • How do you win winning positions?
  • How to save losing positions and much more.

With the Tactics Ninja course in the back of my head.... it seemed in Classical Game 43 after black played Rc6 that Rg8+ was a much easier win for white. Maybe I'm missing something though like the knight getting trapped.

What an amazing course, I just finished 67 and as recommended I did no more than one per day. I am already noticing the improvement in my game, subtle differences with how I look at the pieces and the squares. I plan on repeating these 100 games in the future and reinforcing the teaching points. Thank you GM Avetik and Chessmood you guys are doing a great job!

absolutely brilliant, I'd love to have more tactical lines as I have to analyse many positions seperately e.g. the fork d4 in Game 3. Steinitz W. - Sellmann A. "Strategic Triumph" which white has to answer very tactically with bishop e4 etc.

This course is second to none! So much good stuff and many ideas very well explained. The PGN file makes it easy to revise them from time to time and play through the games a second and third time. It is really thoughtful having diagrams of the critical positions to remember in the files but I also try and put myself in the GM position as if it is my game and see what I would play on other moves - once out of the opening. Wherever there is a difference between my move and the game, there is a new learning opportunity and I can feel real improvement happening in those moments. Thank you so much GM Avetik for the time and effort you put into commenting and selecting the games - studying them is a real pleasure and all are very instructive. It is going to be a sad day when I finish the course. Awesome!

Loving this course. Every game I come away feeling like a have a slightly deeper understanding of how to play certain positions. I've been reading chess books for decades, but already, just 6 games into the course, I feel like I've had good, practical advice that I haven't seen elsewhere. Big thanks to GM Avetik!

Finally finished watching course one time and grasped a lot positional and attacking concepts. Especially in case of bishop pair and how to convert winning advantage into win and more about positional play. Amazing course recommended.

The appreciation for the games(classics) definitely increases when watching analysis by a GM. Would appreciate important patterns that need to be remembered through the games been marked in some way.

Most GM's don't care about their pupils and don't know how and what to teach. Here at chess Mood you get 1 a family of chess players that care! From GM's to ameteurs, they all care about your improvement! 2. A repertoire appropriate till one is a Master or 1 percent of ALL chess players and even when master you can use these lines!! 3. Classic games with a point to teach 4. A GM who knows how to teach and is available!!!! 5. Tournaments!! Is this for real all this for a monthly membership??? Yes. I experienced it!! Final selling point. Do you like coffee? Pay 5 bucks for your mocha, Java chip, 2 pump vanilla wing ding of a drink? So for less than your money you just spent on your drink you can have a MONuMENTAL improvement in your chess! Sign up and have fun!!!!!
