Secret 1: Burning Desire

This is one of the biggest secrets to becoming a GM or achieving anything in life!

Secret 1: Burning Desire

Chess lovers often ask me the super popular question "What are the secrets of becoming a Grandmaster?". I answer - "BURNING DESIRE," and they  get confused. They probably expect answers like "read this book," "play this opening," "find a good coach", etc.

If you have a BURNING DESIRE to become a Grandmaster, it will not be hard to find good books, a good coach, or to understand where to start from. You'll just google it, or even without any hesitation you will write to some good Grandmasters and ask their opinion. You'll begin to look for good chess groups, forums, and sparring partners, who also have the same goal. You'll do everything you need to become a Grandmaster.

What if you have a desire, but not BURNING ONE?

In such cases, you will not do everything. You'll do maximum half of the above-mentioned.
Weak desires bring weak results, just as a small amount of fire makes a small amount of heat!

Burning Desire Quote from ChessMood Blog

There is one simple truth; if you had a goal and did not manage to accomplish it, that's because your desire and willingness weren't enough. Just wishing will not make you a Grandmaster.

However, I recommend you to have a burning desire with a specific state of mind. Gradually, it becomes an obsession. Then plan definite ways and keep those plans with persistence. Make sure you do not recognize failure. This is the way that will make you a Grandmaster.

This isn't only about becoming a Grandmaster. No matter what dream or goal you have, whether it is to become a Grandmaster, a 2000 ELO player, or even a champion of your club, you should have a BURNING DESIRE!!!
This is the starting point of all our achievements! This is a part of Right Mood!
